What is GARD?

Great American Realtor Day (GARD) is held during Florida's Legislative session in Tallahassee.  Realtors visit the Capitol to meet with Legislators on pending real estate legislation.  GARD will be held on March 19, 2014.

Key Contacts and Meetings with Legislators

Key Contacts are a direct link to your local Legislator and Legislative visits are scheduled by local Association Key Contacts.  The list of scheduled appointments will be available soon.  Here is a list of Legislative Key Contacts for your information.  If you are a Key Contact, please notify the Tallahassee Office of Public Policy at 850-224-1400, or e-mail as soon as an appointment has been scheduled.  Here are the 2014 Legislative appointments.


After March 12, online registration is closed. Registration after that date is $50 on-site at the Challenger Learning Center in downtown Tallahassee. 

Registration covers all materials and Talking Points, the Legislative Briefing, lunch on the Capitol Courtyard and the Adams Street Block Party. 

Transportation to Tallahassee

Florida Realtors will once again supplement Association transportation costs.  If your Association charters a bus to bring members to GARD, Florida Realtors will reimburse up to $500 of your Association's bus expense.  Download theTransportation Reimbursement Form.


On Friday, March 14, 2014, at 12:30 p.m. EST, the Florida Realtors office of Public Policy provided a Legislative briefing webinar.  Associations were encouraged to hold a "Brown Bag Briefing" at their Association office for members to join each other for lunch to watch the briefing.  Florida Realtors will reimburse up to $250 for Association lunch expenses.  Please use the Brown Bag Briefing Reimbursement Form.  The briefing was taped and is available to view now. Watch the Pre-GARD Legislative Briefing.  There will also be one live briefing from 10 a.m.  - 10:30 a.m. and one recorded briefing from 10:45a.m. - 11:15 a.m. at the Challenger Learning Center on March 19.

Parking and Shuttle Service

Parking is available at the Leon County Civic Center with shuttle service to the Capitol and other event locations.  All events are within walking distance.  The shuttle will run continuously from 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. on March 18 and 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. on March 19.

Courtyard Lunch

Come to the Capitol Courtyard at 11:30 a.m. for a fun lunch.  Legislators and staff are invited. 

Block Party

GARD winds down in the evening with the always popular Taste of Florida Block Party on Adams Street.  The Block Party will begin at 5 p.m.  Enjoy entertainment and fresh Florida food and drink favorites.
