4 Tips to Help You Make Facebook Ads That Work

by | Feb 21, 2014

lwolf_4-tips-facebook-adsCan you believe it? It has been 10 years since Facebook was launched out of a Harvard dorm room by a group of tech savvy students named Mark Zuckerberg, Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes. What started as a way to connect students, evolved into the largest global social network with over 1.2 billion active users.

Amongst the 1.2 billion active users are 1 million advertisers trying to drive their target market to their brand page or website via the Facebook advertising platform. While it is relatively self-serve, there are some things to keep in mind when creating an advertisement that works:

  • Why are you running the advertisement? This is the first thing you need to think about. Are you trying to gain more likes for your brand page? Are you trying to boost engagement on a particular post? Are you trying to drive people to your website? All of these come at a different cost. Facebook doesn't mind sending traffic from their site to yours, but it will cost you. Determining why you are advertising will help you determine what kind of advertisement you should run, who you should advertise to, and ultimately help you maximize your ad expenditure.

  • How are your visuals? Your visuals are one of the most important things to consider when setting up your Facebook advertisement. Studies have shown that photos are liked and shared twice as much as a traditional text update. Make sure you use a captivating image. If you don't have the time or resources to create your own visuals, a stock image will do. However, custom images are much more intriguing for the user.

  • What's your headline? Coupled with your visuals, you have 25 characters to make someone want to click on your advertisement. Use them wisely! You can come up with a great headline when you take the time to look back on why you are running your advertisement. Can you use 3-4 words to describe the value of what you're advertising?

  • Make it simple for the user! You got the click! Congratulations! Now remember, there are countless other things people could be doing with their time. Make it easy for them by telling them what you are offering and how they can get it. They have come this far, don't lose them now.

Do you use Facebook Advertising? If so, do you have any tips or tricks help you get more engagement with your Facebook ads? Leave a comment below!
