Susan S. Gaieski,,
Realtor®, e-PRO, SFR
2016 President JTHS Council of the
MIAMI Association of REALTORS®

  • Did you know that since January, we've hosted 8 New Member Orientations with a total of 330 new members attending at our JTHS location?
  • Our education offerings have doubled this year. I'm happy to report that we've already surpassed one of our JTHS initiatives regarding Professional Development. We set a goal to train a minimum of 600 members, and as of the end of June, we've provided training to over 2300 members. Kudos to our members for attending.
  • Our International outreach is constantly expanding. We have access to a professional network of over 137 International Partners worldwide. Our Miami Association has promoted us and our markets internationally including completed business expos or events in China, India, Dubai, Paris, Colombia, and El Salvador, MIPIM in France. Preparation for the annual International Real Estate Congress Event in late October is proceeding as planned, including an event in Jupiter for our international guests. JTHS COUNCIL BOARD OF GOVERNORS
The Council met for our quarterly meeting to review the 2016 initiatives; Broker Outreach, Member Benefit Value & Awareness, Professional Development, and International Market Influence. The Board of Governors discussed updates on MLS, RAMC conversion, and Tools and Services (updates were provided to all our members in recent email communications).

STAYING CONNECTED - Now, as part of the larger JTHS-Miami Association, your JTHS Council leadership has an open invitation to attend other Council Board meetings to stay abreast of all issues affecting not only our individual Council but the Association as a whole. It's a great opportunity to stay connected. Recently, Barb Fox, your 2017 JTHS Council President Elect and I attended the Broward Council Board of Governors meeting. The Broward Council gave updates on their 2016 initiatives, discussed government affairs & housing, and addressed market issues and concerns impacting the area. On August 18, I attended the Miami Association of Realtors® Corporate Board meeting. The Corporate Board reviewed and gave updates on their 2016 initiatives, as well as discussed government affairs and addressed market issues impacting the area and our international outreach.

Our JTHS-Miami Nominating Committee Team met. Chaired by Immediate Past President Nancy Lubeck, the team reviewed the 2017 Council Leadership applications that were submitted and made their recommendations for the 2017 Board of Governors slate.

KEY HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE FLORIDA REALTORS® CONVENTION

  • Tom Salomone, 2016 National Association of Realtors® President discussed the problems with CALLS-TO-ACTION. To maximize our impact on Capitol Hill, we have to harness the power of our numbers. He reported at the FR Convention that we need to get our Members to respond to these Calls to Action. Out of all the states that participate in these CALLS-TO-ACTION, Florida was second to last, DC was last on the list. Collectively, our voices and our actions matter. We encourage everyone to get involved and stay involved. Click here to sign up for Realtor® Party Mobile Alerts, it is fast, easy and vital to our profession and our future.
  • Tom also stated that "Realtors® have reported challenges gaining access to the Closing Disclosure ever since TRID went into effect, despite a long history of access to the similar HUD-1 that was replaced. In July of this year, the CFPB (Consumer Finance Protection Bureau) acknowledged that concern by making it clear that it is appropriate and accepted for creditors and settlement agents to share the CD with consumers, sellers and their real estate agents."
