Miami Realtors partnered with the city of Miami Beach in December 2017 to bring dog agility equipment to both of Miami Beach's bark parks. Dog agility equipment is good exercise for both dog and owner and only enhances Miami Beach's active community.

North Shore Open Space Park, 8328 Collins Ave. in North Beach, was enhanced with two new agility courses with the assistance from one of MIAMI REALTORS® placemaking grants. Photo above is courtesy of the City of Miami Beach.

The first of its kind in North Beach, these puppy play circuits include a rover jump over, doggie crawl, paws table and hoop jump.

The additions to the park were partly funded with $5,000 from the Miami Association of Realtors’ placemaking grant, which aims to revamp underused or unused public spaces into gathering spots for the community.

The City of Miami Beach matched the $5K grant.  There’s now a course for small breeds and one for larger dogs and a lot more excitement in the park.

North Shore Open Space Park isn’t the only dog park in Miami Beach. In all, the city is home to six designated “Bark Parks,” where dogs can run and play in fenced-in areas. These include Flamingo, Pinetree, Belle Isle and South Pointe parks.

About MIAMI Realtors Changing Communities

REALTORS® don’t just sell properties, we invest in communities. In 2017, MIAMI REALTORS® invested more than $100,000 in grant funds from the National Association of REALTORS(R) (NAR) to improve our South Florida communities.

Through member engagement and feedback, MIAMI developed a list of local community projects that could have the most impact. MIAMI invited its 46,000-plus membership for a brainstorming session and more than 200 members contributed ideas and volunteered to help.

In 2017, MIAMI hosted more than 10 local community initiatives, from helping create a new Miami Shores community destination to re-painting Miami Gardens commercial buildings. Each project was led by the Realtor who proposed it and supported by a team of fellow Realtor volunteers and a Realtor partner (usually an elected official).

More MIAMI Realtors Changing Communities initiatives are planned for 2018.

MIAMI members can register to volunteer at our upcoming community events at: MiamiRealtors.com/Volunteers
