FPL’s New Process for Connecting and Disconnecting Electric Service

Florida Power & Light is implementing a faster and easier process for remotely connecting and disconnecting electric service. Download letter for FPL with all the details (click here).

As a REALTOR, you should know:

  • New residents must call ahead to get connected.

    • Power in unoccupied homes or apartments will likely be off until re- activated.

    • Start service online at www.FPL.com/startservice or by phone by calling 1-800-226-3545 – and before 2 p.m. for same-day connections.

    • Prepare the home to safely receive power. This may include: turning off all inside breakers, electronics and appliances and removing items from the stove or range.

  • When moving out, electric service will be remotely disconnected within one day of the date requested. Residents should empty, open and unplug the fridge to prevent mold.
