Palm Beach County’s marine industry ranks among the largest in the nation, a development that boosts real estate and all sectors of the local economy. The Palm Beach International Boat Show, which just completed its 32nd run, is the top industry event of the year as it showcases more than $1.2 billion worth of yachts, boats and marine accessories.

The Palm Beach International Boat Show is attracting so many more international exhibitors and attendees that organizers moved to include “international” in its name. The boat show attracts affluent boat and yacht owners to Palm Beach who often end up buying more than just boats. They look at Palm Beach residential and commercial opportunities, as well.

Many attendees and exhibitors are considering Palm Beach’s incredible live, work and play lifestyle. Palm Beach County’s marine industry, for instance, generated more than $1.8 billion in economic impact and accounted for 18,220 jobs in fiscal 2014, according to a study by Thomas J. Murray Associates Inc.

The Palm Beach show is one of several in South Florida. Yachts Miami Beach and the Miami International Boat Show run February 16-20 in Miami Beach and Virginia Key, respectively. The Miami show saw an attendance increase of 7 percent from 2016 to 100,000 people, organizers said. The Miami show has more than a $600 million economic impact locally.

The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, which is named the world’s largest in-water boat show, will be held November 2-6 in Fort Lauderdale.

South Florida is heaven for boaters as opportunities for yachting, boating, fishing and kayaking abound.
