Miami Music Week, held in the last week of March, is one of the world’s most recognized electronic music events. Every year, hundreds of thousands of people from across the globe come to Miami to listen and dance to some of the world’s best DJs. The always sold-out Miami Music Week is a boom to local businesses, hotels, downtown and more. Young Miami Music Week attendees pay for tickets, ranging from $300 to $1,250. In 2016, more than 1,180 artists performed at 260 events hosted at 78 venues.

    Tennis is an international sport played by every country on this globe, so it’s apropos a city as diverse and welcoming as Miami hosts a major tournament. The Miami Open, which is in its 32nd year at the picturesque Crandon Tennis Center on Key Biscayne, boosts every sector of Miami, including real estate, as it attracts thousands of fans from all over the world. The tournament, which is played over two weeks in late March, has introduced many fans to Miami’s resort lifestyle and awe-inspiring beauty while boosting the local economy. Consider: the Miami Open has an annual economic impact of nearly $390 million. It draws more than 300,000 spectators and is responsible for more than 14,000 hotel rooms. Its impact overseas might be more significant. The tournament is televised internationally, showcasing Miami’s sunny weather and skyline. About 90 domestic hours of TV broadcast the tournament and 190 countries broadcast 8,000 hours of total TV coverage overseas, according to tournament officials.

MIAMI has exhibited with NAR at MIPIM for three consecutive years to increase awareness of U.S. markets. MIAMI leaders touted Miami’s rise as a world-class global city and worked to attract more commercial and residential investment for South Florida. “Real estate is an integral part of South Florida’s economy and it’s important to showcase Miami’s evolution as a top world-class city on this global stage,” said Christopher Zoller, a Coral Gables Realtor and 2017 MIAMI Chairman of the Board. “Investors want to build and develop properties in Miami because we’re growing, boast an incredible lifestyle and abound with economic opportunities.”

  • Russia is Again Top International Country Searching Miami Real Estate Miami is Second Most-Searched U.S. Market Globally

    Russia is the most-active country searching Miami real estate for the second consecutive month, according to new data from the MIAMI Association of REALTORS® (MIAMI). Russia registered the most South Florida property searches among all countries on MIAMI’s portal, www.Miamire.com, in December 2016. Colombia and Venezuela finished second and third, respectively. “Russia is part of an increasingly diverse group of countries that are purchasing Miami real estate,” said Christopher Zoller, the 2017 MIAMI chairman of the board. The Miami city of Sunny Isles Beach, for instance, has a large Russian population and is known as “Little Moscow” for its propensity of Russian-owned delis, restaurants, beauty spas, supermarkets and real estate companies. About 7.4 percent of Sunny Isles residents list Russian as their first language, according to the U.S. Census.

Miami/South Florida posted 10 percent commercial real estate investment gains in the first half of 2016. Other top performers were Las Vegas (101%), Denver (up 51%) and Philadelphia (up 28%). Fort Lauderdale also posted gains in sales volume, rising up the ranks of top markets. South Florida has long been a top destination for international investors.
