The Northwestern Association of REALTORS (NDAR) and the MIAMI Association of REALTORS (MIAMI) are proud to announce their merger into one association, the only one in Miami-Dade County and the largest local REALTOR association in the nation. This is the second merger in three months for the MIAMI Association of REALTORS, which will remain the name of the new organization. The merger will combine NDAR’s nearly 500 members with MIAMI’s nearly 23,500, offering the best of both associations.
“We are thrilled to become one family and one association for all of Miami-Dade County,” said Maria E. Brackett, 2011 President of NDAR. “As the largest association in the nation, our membership will enjoy the best our combined associations have to offer and will be better equipped to serve the buying and selling publics in our communities.”

This merger will benefit the members of each organization, the local real estate industry and business community, the buying and selling public, and the entire marketplace now and into the future.
“We will continue to provide what is best for our members,” said MIAMI Chairman of the Board Jack H. Levine. “Our 20,000 members in Miami-Dade County and 4,000 members in Broward County gain an advantage by all being under one umbrella, which enables us to provide the utmost in services and products and to contribute to make them more successful in their professions.”
Members of the NDAR board of directors will now join MIAMI leaders to impact key policy decisions and important issues affecting the industry. Maria Brackett, Juana Maria Gonzalez, and Vivian Macias will serve on the MIAMI Corporate Board of Directors; Luis Landrian, Sergio Duran and Silvia M. Herrero will serve on the Residential Board of Governors; and Oscar J. Delgado joins the Commercial Board of Governors.
MIAMI Chief Executive Officer Teresa King Kinney will serve as the CEO of the merged association. The merger closed on October 29. The new association hosted a merger celebration on the same day to highlight the special occasion and further integrate leaders of the both organizations.
“This marks the first time since the 1930s where only one association represents the entire county,” said Kinney. “It is a great honor to help lead this new association, which combines the rich histories, cultures and leadership as well as services and programs of two successful organizations, providing unlimited new opportunities for the future. We remain committed to excellence, innovation and serving our 24,000 members who represent every specialty of real estate, including Residential, Commercial, and International.”
MIAMI hosts more than 600 member seminars and events each year and offers more than $26,000 in free premium marketing tools and services to each of its members to contribute to their success and help them better serve consumers. The new association includes a Residential Association, a Commercial Association, a Broward County Board of Governors, an award-winning International Council and an Educational Foundation.
International Partnerships
The association has more than 65 agreements, which generate substantial referral business and other opportunities, with partner organizations throughout the world. This alliance continues to increase the association’s international leverage and capacity, as it effectively promotes South Florida and the local real estate market to buyers, investors, tourists, and global corporations and positively impacts the local community and economy.
Merger Initiative
Maria E. Brackett and Jack H. Levine led the merger initiative. Sergio Duran, Juana Maria Gonzalez, Vivian Macias, and Luis Landrian of NDAR, and Martha Pomares, Oliver Ruiz, Victor Ulloa, and Norka Diaz of MIAMI also served on the merger committee.

The MIAMI Association of REALTORS was chartered by the National Association of Realtors in 1920 and is celebrating its 90th year of service to Realtors, the buying and selling public, and the communities in South Florida.
